In 2013, Nike paid tribute to Black History Month by recognizing three prominent athletes: Serena Williams, Didier Drogba, and Kevin Durant. As part of this celebration, Nike launched the 'Black History Month' sneaker collection, which included a special edition shoe for Durant called the Nike KD 5 'BHM' sneaker. This particular shoe features synthetic construction with African-inspired prints and is predominantly adorned with a combination of Sport Grey and Total Orange colors. The signature KD and BHM detailing subtly appears on the toe, tongue, and heel, while a prominent heel counter provides added support for the ankle.
