Featured on the shoe's side profile, the image of Mars gained popularity through the movies ‘She’s Gotta Have It’ and the subsequent Air Jordan commercials. The predominantly black and white design of the shoe is elevated by vibrant Varsity Red accents on the sole and lace application. In 2012, a retro edition of the colorway was released, omitting the Mars Blackmon graphic.
