In November 2016, a collaboration between Ronnie Fieg and Gel Mai 'Militia' was introduced in celebration of Kith's 5th Anniversary and Fieg's 10th year of ASICS collaborations. The Gel Mai shoe, originally released in the late 1990s, showcased ASICS' iconic side panel Tiger Stripes relocated to a jeweled logo on the midsole. Notable features of the Gel Mai include its asymmetrical lacing system, TPU collar suspension, and floating heel counters. Fieg's 'Militia' version boasted an orange pigskin suede upper, complemented by a speckled sand midsole and gum outsole. Additionally, the sneaker offered four extra lace options for customization. The Gel Mai 'Militia' was released alongside 'Salmon' colorways for the Gel-Lyte 3.1, Made in Japan Gel-Lyte 3, and a 'Salmon' Gel Mai colorway as part of the 'Legends Day' 6-pack. It is important to note that both Gel Mai colorways were produced in limited quantities of 750 pairs each.
