In May 2016, adidas introduced the Ultra Boost 2.0 in Core Black specifically targeting the women's market, continuing their trend of releasing 2.0 women's exclusive versions. This new iteration of the Ultra Boost featured enhancements such as an upgraded Continental rubber outsole for improved grip and durability. Additionally, adidas reintroduced the TPU moulded cage and Primeknit upper, enhancing the overall fit of the shoe. To provide additional support, the sockfit construction was complemented by a hard plastic heel counter. In terms of aesthetics, the Core Black colorway showcased a sleek and two-tone design, with the upper entirely black, accented by silver adidas branding and a white boost midsole.
