The Air Jordan 28 was a surprising release that caught many off guard. Unlike most shoes in the internet age, there were no leaked photos or any prior information available before its unveiling. To lead the design process, Tinker Hatfield was brought back on board and he had a vision for a unique "Concept Car" type of design. One of the standout features of the shoe was the full-length neoprene shroud that extended beyond the ankle, providing a stylishly sleek look. This shroud was also functional as it could be zipped down to reveal the base shoe. Another innovative aspect of the Air Jordan 28 was its new cushioning system, the Jordan Flight Plate. This system featured a pebax spring plate with strategically carved areas that allowed the Zoom Air units to rest directly inside the plate, bringing the cushioning closer to the foot. The end result was a lightweight Air Jordan that not only turned heads with its distinctive appearance, but also delivered impressive performance on the basketball court.
