In June 2008, the Nike Air Jordan 16 Retro 'Countdown Pack' sneaker was brought back into the market, making it the first retro-release of this popular model from Michael Jordan's post-Bulls era. The 'Countdown Pack' included the Air Jordan 7 'Hare' colorway, creating a unique combination of two iconic Jordan sneakers that added up to the legendary number 23. Originally introduced in 2001, the design of the AJ16 was led by Wilson Smith III, as the renowned Air Jordan designer Tinker Hatfield took a step back. Inspired by Michael Jordan's transition from a player to an executive, the AJ16 featured a gaiter that could be worn attached, giving it a more sophisticated look resembling a dress shoe.
