To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Gel-Lyte 3, ASICS collaborated with Taiwan-based Invincible on a special release in October 2015. This edition, known as the Gel-Lyte 3 ‘Formosa,’ features a distinctive hairy suede upper in different shades of grey, complemented by pops of navy and red on the heel tab. The name ‘Formosa’ holds a significant meaning as it not only refers to Taiwan's historical name but also incorporates the scientific name of the crested goshawk, a bird species native to tropical Asia.
