The collaboration between A Bathing Ape (BAPE), a renowned Japanese streetwear boutique, and adidas resulted in the creation of two extremely rare versions of the NMD R1 sneakers: the Bape x NMD_R1 'Olive' and 'Black' colorways. These unique sneakers were launched in July 2016 and were made available in limited quantities exclusively through BAPE retailers and selected adidas flagship stores. The 'Olive' colorway showcases BAPE's distinctive camouflage pattern on the upper, while adidas' signature three stripes are presented on the side panels in a contrasting white color.
