The Air Jordan 9 Retro DB 'Doernbecher' sneaker is a part of the Nike x Doernbecher Freestyle 2012 project, which is a special partnership with the Doernbecher Children's Hospital. This particular Air Jordan 9 model was designed by an 11-year-old named Oswaldo Jiminez. Oswaldo incorporated personal details into the design, such as a feather pattern on the sockliner and tongue, which represents his family nickname "Pollito" or "little chicken." Additionally, the red and green outsole pays homage to his hometown of Queretaro, Mexico.
