Laika Studios, founded by Nike's founder Phil Knight, launched their debut animated film, Coraline, in February 2009. Unfortunately, the Nike Dunk High 'Coraline,' a limited-edition shoe, never hit the retail market. Interestingly, enthusiasts could only get their hands on these shoes through a unique approach – by uncovering a hidden code during the movie's credits which would unlock the shoe box on the film's promotional website. The design of the shoe draws inspiration from director Henry Selick's meticulous handcrafted style, featuring a striking two-tone grey canvas upper adorned with hand-sewn visible seams and black stitching reminiscent of intricate elements seen in the movie. Additionally, black buttons appear on the tongue and eyelets, paying homage to the film's iconic details, while a glow-in-the-dark outsole completes the distinctive look.
