Nike celebrated Air Max Day in 2018 by launching the Nike: On Air contest, which allowed residents to showcase their creativity by designing Air Max sneakers based on their hometowns. One of the winners, Gwang Shin, collaborated with Nike developers and introduced his creation, the Nike Air Max 97 'Neon Seoul' sneaker, in April 2019. Shin's design pays homage to his city, Seoul, by incorporating elements from the iconic neon signs that adorn the streets of the South Korean capital. The sneaker's leather upper features striking vivid-colored piping, adding a vibrant and distinctive touch to the overall design.
