The Nike Air Max 1, designed by Tinker Hatfield, first made its appearance in 1987. Following its success, the Air Max 90 was released three years later, incorporating new elements such as a larger visible Air unit window and a grooved forefoot. An updated version of the Air Max 90, known as the Nike Air Max 90 Ultra SE 'Night Maroon', was launched in 2016. This contemporary rendition pays homage to its heritage, showcasing a maroon molded foam upper with overlays and a midfoot Swoosh. The Max Air unit rests within a sleek black and maroon midsole-outsole design.
