In 2014, Nice Kicks, a sneaker blog based in Texas, joined forces with New Balance to release a limited edition version of the 1600 Grand Anse sneaker. This unique iteration of the classic runner draws its inspiration from the stunning beach of the same name located on the beautiful Caribbean island of Grenada, which also happens to be the former home of Nice Kicks founder, Matt Halfhill. The shoe's design cleverly incorporates an assortment of mixed-blue mesh and nubuck materials that pay homage to the crystal-clear waters of Grand Anse. Additionally, the inclusion of grey leather layers and a grey tongue serve as a symbolic representation of the distinct sea-washed gravel found exclusively in the area. The upper of the shoe is artfully crafted with multiple layers, which are then mounted on a crisp white Abzorb midsole adorned with blue accents, creating a visually appealing contrast. To complete the design, a blue rubber outsole is added, offering both style and functionality.
