The collaborative project between Jordan Brand and renowned Brooklyn street artist KAWS, also known as Brian Donnelly, gave birth to the highly anticipated KAWS x Air Jordan 4 Retro. This unique design deviates from the traditional plastic accents of the silhouette, opting instead for a luxurious grey suede upper that encompasses both the upper and midsole. To further highlight the artistic collaboration, KAWS' distinctive 'XX' branding adorns the heel tab of the sneaker. Accompanying the release of the shoes in March 2017, a limited capsule collection was introduced, comprising a coaches jacket, hoodie, t-shirt, and hat. The overwhelming excitement surrounding this collaboration resulted in dramatic incidents, such as police intervention during an in-store raffle at Patta in London and the hacking of Donnelly's website by eager sneaker enthusiasts vying for a chance to secure a pair.
