The collaboration between HUF and Nike resulted in the release of the HUF x Nike Air Max 1 in 2004. At that time, HUF, a popular streetwear and sneaker shop founded by Keith Hufnagel, operated two physical stores in San Francisco. This retro runner showcases a stylish combination of leather and nubuck materials in different shades of grey. A vibrant touch of lime green can be found on the sneaker's branding elements, such as the iconic Swoosh and the embroidered Nike Air wordmark located on the heel overlay. The same eye-catching contrasting tones are also utilized on the tooling, which are further enhanced by a grey polyurethane midsole that incorporates a green-tinged Max Air unit beneath the heel.
