In 2013, Concepts, a sneaker retailer based in Boston, collaborated with ASICs to create a special edition of the Gel Lyte 3 called the 'Three Lies'. This unique colorway was inspired by the statue of John Harvard at Harvard University, which falsely states that he was the founder in 1638. As part of a tradition, students rub the statue for good luck, resulting in the bronze toe box becoming polished and changing color over time. The 'Three Lies' sneaker cleverly emulates this effect by featuring a bronze perforated leather vamp and suede toe, along with green suede on the remainder of the upper. Additionally, it showcases a quilted nylon lining and a midsole that resembles speckled concrete.
