In an effort to expand its influence in the US market, adidas sought the endorsement of tennis legend Stan Smith. From 1965 to 1978, the shoe showcased both Smith's face on the tongue and Haillet's autograph on the side. Fast forward to March 2019, the brand unveiled a minimalist version of the Stan Smith, featuring a sleek black leather upper complemented by contrasting white leather accents on the counter, tongue, laces, and sidewall that also showcases the cutout Trefoil logo.
