On October 19, 2017, adidas unveiled the NMD R1 PK ‘Japan Grey’ sneakers, as part of their new line. Additionally, they released two other colorways, the NMD R1 PK ‘French Beige’ and NMD R1 PK ‘Japan Black.’ Unlike the majority of NMD sneakers, the ‘Japan Grey’ edition showcases the Japanese characters next to the three stripes logo, along with white arrows near the heel and sock-fit collar. The front EVA plug omits the ‘adidas’ branding, distinguishing it from other NMD models.
